Remember

This online memorial is my attempt to both honor and hold onto the best memories of my departed parents.

Obituaries are a verbal tombstone that paint a picture of a life that feels both confining and too finalized to me. Summarizing a life as though it were ingredients on a food label. But the fullness and flavor of a life is vastly more than a nickel version plot point summation. Pictures can show so much more.

This site’s account of Buddy and Nancy is subjective and spare but my hope is that it provides a more personal account of my parents’ lives. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Nancy never got (nor did she want) a funeral or memorial and her online obituary (such as it is) does nothing to commemorate her life or her impact on her family and this world. It always unsettled me that when her life’s flame extinguished, so did all account of her life’s story and character along with the impact of her love and laughter on her family and friends.

The pain of loss of a loved one is compounded by silence.

Recently departed Buddy at least has a decent online obituary but it skews mostly professional and offers sparse insight into his character and earlier personal life and ignores other positive impacts he brought to life.

With a few remaining pictures and words to provide a sketch of their lives, I hope that some part of what good Nancy and Buddy each brought to this world may live on a bit longer.
